ISO/IEC 20000 Accreditation
Following an audit by the British Standards Institute November 2007, Computacenter's Milton Keynes-based Service Desk received an accreditation for ISO/IEC 20000 (previously BS15000) - the standard for IT service management.
The integration of the ISO/IEC 20000 standards into Computacenter's Shared Services Factory played a significant part in supporting the audit process for certification, and clearly demonstrated the benefits it delivers in association with the adoption of ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) methodologies.
ISO/IEC 20000 sets out requirements against which an organisation can be assessed for effective IT service management processes and performance. It provides an integrated framework for delivering and managing IT services to the customer, encouraging a more service orientated and customer focused organisation.
The accreditation is based on the best practice foundation of ITIL. Whilst ITIL defines a series of best practice guidelines across the Service Management lifecycle, ISO/IEC 20000 provides a formal specification that a service provider can seek formal certification against.
